When is the best time to run my pool's filtration system, and for how long?

For energy efficiency best time to run the pool's filtration system is during off-peak hours when the electricity demand is lower.

This time is typically between 8 p.m. - 10 a.m.

Also, to warm the pool you can run it during the day, to cool it at night. The goal is to circulate the pools volume once per day, typically within 8-12 hrs of that day for single speed pumps. Dual or variable speed pumps usually run longer as the flow rate is lower due to using less electricity.

To determine how long you need to run your pump this equation will help.

Turnover rate = Pool volume/Flow rate/60 min

So if you have a 20,000 gallon pool, 35 gpm flow rate, it will look like this ... 20,000/35/60= 9.52 hrs needed to turn the pools water over.

How did we do?
